Research Papers

Decision Science is a rapidly evolving research area within the Information Systems (IS) discipline. Decision Science (DS) research has many wide-ranging definitions, however in this context we are defining DS as the science of making decisions and this encompasses areas such as Decision Support Systems and information technology models derived from using data analytics. The aim of this special section is to bring together leading DS research and relevant approaches whether they are systems that enable cooperation and supporting shared decision making; data-oriented that enables classification and manipulation of industry internal and external data for producing useful decision support; document-driven that supports processing of unstructured information, knowledge-driven that presents specialized knowledge supports towards effective decision making and model-driven that offers statistical, financial, or optimization open sourced or in-house models for decision support.

The objective is to examine diversified issues of practitioner-oriented DS research in social, economic, cultural and technological context. The topics broadly cover operational decision-making, strategic decision-making for management, user access issues and other behavioural, organisational and administration issues of DS, as well as technological issues around DS app designs. Selected papers from the Asian Pacific Decision Sciences Institute conference (APDSI 2019) will be earmarked for this special issue.
